EMDR:

Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing

More progress in less time

EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing) is an evidence-based psychotherapy intervention that enables people to heal from the symptoms of trauma. Emotional distress and physical symptoms are the results of disturbing life experiences. Repeated studies show that EMDR therapy is helpful for those who are struggling with symptoms of PTSD (Post-traumatic stress disorder) and Complex-PTSD. Although our brain’s information processing system works toward natural healing, when the system is blocked like you are feeling stuck, it can cause continuous suffering over time. EMDR can help to remove the block, so your healing can continue. The bilateral stimulation, such as eye movements, butterfly hugs tapping (or buzzers), and/or auditory stimulation, enables the internal association to arise so you can start to process the memory and disturbing feelings that impact your wellbeing.

EMDR has been around for many years now. Originally developed by Dr. Francine Shapiro, Ph.D., EMDR has been an evidence-based practice, and is now recommended as an effective treatment for trauma and is used in Departments of Defense and Veterans Affairs, addiction and mental health treatment centers, mental health programs, and more. Many studies on EMDR therapy have shown that it has positive effects. Some studies show very positive outcomes for the majority of participants after 6 - 12 sessions. In some other studies, participants have noticed a reduction in PTSD symptoms in just 3-6 sessions. It is widely used to treat people who are struggling with PTSD, anxiety, depression, and phobias.

I am an EMDR-trained therapist turned to holistic trauma recovery self-development coach in Orange County, California. I provide EMDR treatment to adults in the state of California for telehealth and also offer in-person sessions. I work with highly motivated individuals to help reduce symptoms related to trauma, complex trauma, PTSD, depression, anxiety, phobias, and other emotional problems.

more progress in less time

One of the significant benefits of EMDR is that we can make more progress in less time than traditional talk therapy. I like to call EMDR treatment a “booster” to access where we often “get stuck".” Almost anyone who feels stuck in their therapeutic journey can benefit from EMDR. And EMDR is especially effective in treating trauma, complex trauma, childhood neglect, survivors of abuse, anxiety, depression, physical pain, grief and loss, and dissociative disorders.
